Grace Leonard is the recipient of the 2022 Kindly Bold award for this school year. Grace leads with an inclusive spirit and has been dedicated to food access during this school year. Grace has spent her four years in CYL getting involved in a variety of cause areas including adaptive sports, environmental stewardship, and mental health. This year, Grace took a bold leadership step and wrote a grant to increase food access in her community. She earned the Sodexo Stop Hunger grant and put together over 500 boxes of food for families in need. In addition, she also created a cookbook with economic and culturally-responsive items and meals. During her time in CYL, she also supported the process of a CYL-wide tree planting event in 2020, and worked with TreePlenish to help coordinate the planting of 200+ trees across the city!
She demonstrates the Kindly Bold spirit through her “go-getter” mentality. She does not let setbacks dissuade her from making change in her community. She also brings others in to join her. She is a true team player, leading with curiosity and empathy. Thank you for your commitment to service and to your community, Grace. Congratulations!
