Sewall Child Development Center Service Day

7 Apr 2018 @ 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

An event hosted by The Lion Project.

This April, we’re going to help design and build a new playground at Sewall’s main campus facilities so kids with all kinds of needs and backgrounds can better learn through collaborative play.
Thirty years ago, Sewall was one of the first schools to offer an inclusive education model. So rather than segregating children with special needs, they learn right along their neuro-typical peers and both sides benefit. They now have 22 classrooms and serve 600 little ones across all five of their early childhood education programs.
Not only are these kids adorable, but they’re learning what many kids do not: how to appreciate and respect different abilities, backgrounds, and processes. Wouldn’t the world be a better place if more children and communities grew up with this understanding?
Help us create a safe and beautiful playground to bring greater joy and help Sewall continue to teach through play at Sewall Child Development Center. See their promotional video on the Sewall Child Development Campaign page.
Project Objectives:
Our focus will be to enhance the toddler playground at Sewall’s main campus in the Congress Park neighborhood.

We want to add…

  • Natural Elements
  • Climbing Activities (toddler-sized, of course)
  • Sound/musical elements
  • Tunnels
