Serve and learn on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in Pine Ridge, South Dakota with CYL and The Tipi Raisers. Spend 5 days on the Reservation participating in cultural immersion, service projects and adventure! The service project, which is dependent on need, can be any of the following: rebuilding a house for a Lakota family, building a community garden, building an Inipi (Lakota sweat lodge), etc. You will also have a real-life look at life on the Reservation and be immersed in a cultural experience learning from Lakota elders. You will have the opportunity to participate in an Inipi, spiritual Lakota sweat lodge.
Our adventures will include horseback riding in the open prairie, hiking in South Dakota’s Badlands, touring the Wounded Knee massacre site and watching beautiful sunsets! Trip fees will be $525 and cover all expenses during the 5 days including: all transportation, lodging, meals, excursions/adventures, CYL and Tipi Raisers programming each day and support for the Lakota living in on the Reservation. $100 trip deposit is due on April 7th and can be brought in person to the parent/student info meeting or sent to the following address: 1627 Vine Street, Denver, CO 80210.
