About the event
Since 1972, the People’s Fair has been a shining example of urban diversity and neighborhood pride. It is a community-oriented event, with over 200 volunteers, 300 exhibitors with authentic handmade arts & crafts, a variety of delicious food, entertainment acts on three stages, exciting family activities, and 200,000 fairgoers all coming together to create the magic of the People’s Fair.
The Street Side Mural Project at the People’s Fair is a live art competition in which teams of local youth artists paint 6′ by 8′ murals onsite during the festival. These young artists form teams and work together in the months leading up to the People’s Fair to create a concept for their mural, based on given theme – Denver’s neighborhoods.
What will I be doing?
You will help create a 6’ x 8’ mural with your team of 5. You will complete the entire image on Saturday, June 3 and the morning of Sunday, June 4, during the Fair. You MUST be able to commit to both days to join the team. Fairgoers also benefit from the Mural Project by experiencing the talents and determinations of the young artists and are able to witness some of the most incredibly artistic displays being designed right in front of their eyes. The Mural Project creates an environment that encourages the artists and the fairgoers to interact with each other. A judging ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 4 to select the winners.
